About Us

CleanDet is an Aalto University spin off company founded after the successful development of methods and techniques for detecting surface contaminants during the AutoDet project.

We have developed a novel device that utilizes hyperspectral imaging and machine learning to quickly detect and identify surface contaminants.

The device can be used in places such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, food processing lines, schools and airports, where touch surfaces can spread bacteria or viruses leading to infections. Organic dirt in the form of biofilms may contain disease-causing microbes that can survive for hours or days on touch surfaces. These biofilms are often undetectable by pure visual inspection at an early stage before they grow to be macroscopic.

Our solution replaces old, slow detection methods while providing a simple and more cost-efficient solution to achieve and verify better levels of cleanliness.
